Complete Guide to Retirement Planning

Do you want to spend your retirement comfortably and in control of your finances? This 4-week, information-rich seminar explores a conservative approach to wise money management, and identify lifestyle issues facing retirees. You will learn maximize income and receive more from investments, social security and retirement plans. John will also show you to protect hard-earned assets from erosion due to inflation or economic downturn. At the conclusion of the seminar you will have evaluated your individual retirement progress. John is president of Coastal Financial Services in Kennebunkport and has taught with us since 1999. There is no additional charge if your spouse/partner attends with you.

Arrive ready to decorate homemade cupcakes and cookies as a team in a relaxing environment. Explore new techniques to make holiday sweets a new family favorite. Materials fee of $7 payable to the instructor. Class fee of $12 for each parent/child team.

 

Do Your Own Thing Quilting

Need time to finish a project before the holidays busy up your evenings? Join the group to laugh, chat, and sew while finishing that UFO. Show and tell is strongly encouraged. Drop in fee: $10.00 per visit. Maximum registration for this class is 5 students to be sure everyone has plenty of sewing room.

Dowsing with Glen

Learn to dowse and its modern uses with dowser Glen Johnson. Glen will explain how various instruments are used in today’s dowsing world. Glen weaves past successes throughout his presentation on the history of the art of dowsing for water, minerals and other objects. Bring your own dowsing tool(s) or Glen will be happy to provide one for you. You may also purchase a tool from Glen for $7.00. No experience is necessary. This three week course will run with a minimum of 7 students and a maximum of 15.

Dried Flower Arrangement

Learn to make a dried floral arrangement. In this one night course, Beth will teach you to combine your flowers into a beautiful collection. Beth will provide you with assorted dried flowers, paints, floral foam and a container. You can bring your own flowers or container or purchase materials from Beth. Base materials fee of $5 to be paid directly to the instructor. *NOTE Location: Hanson School Art Room

 

Drop Your Feed Dog and Quilt: Afternoon Session

Yes this is the class you have been asking for! Learn to quilt on your home sewing machine. You will learn how to decide what type of quilting and what designs will go best. Experience stippling, free hand, stencils, traced designs. Tools available to experience; embroidery hoop, rulers, gloves, light box, etc.

Materials needed:
  • Sewing machine
  • Walking foot
  • Darning or quilting foot
  • One yard of muslin
  • One yard of cotton batting

English Speakers of Other Languages will focus on language skills found in the workplace as well as home and throughout the community. You will establish career goals, explore workplace vocabulary in careers of your choice, and build communication skills found in all three environments. Students will experience team building skills, how to fill out job applications, basic computer skills, and build a skill based resume. This is a partially AEFLA funded class and students welcome to begin at any time.
