The ukulele has never been more popular, and you don't even have to know how to read music! On the uke you can knock out folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, and country tunes old and new -- even classical music.
Join instructor Duncan Perry on ZOOM, who has taught more than 700 students of all ages, and who will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using commonly known songs. Oh, and there are lots of laughs along the way. And, learning to play an instrument is good for your brain! You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. And when folks hear you play this happy instrument, well, they just have to smile! What are you waiting for? Grab a uke and get ready for a musical adventure, then spread the joy!

The Noble Knights Community Choir

The choral ensemble is open to anyone from the community who would like to sing! No audition is required. The goal of this ensemble is to bring the power of singing to our community members. Whether you’ve sung for years, in high school, or are just finding your voice, you belong here! We will sing a variety of choral literature and perform a small concert at the end of the session. Additional opportunities to sing for community events are also possible!
The cost of dues for this community group helps cover instructor pay and use of music.

Introduction to Digital Music
with Dr. Christian Giddings
This course is open to anyone and is designed to increase your knowledge of music and its composition. The course will focus on the fundamentals of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, texture, and form. Students will take that musical knowledge and learn how to compose music in various styles, including but not limited to hip-hop, trap, R&B, Pop, folk, rock, or EDM. Students will learn the basics of recording, mixing, editing, sampling, composing, and producing music in any style they choose. The course will use SoundTrap as the recording software, and students will create high-quality electronic compositions using various tools and techniques. No specific prior training is required.

Guitar Chords

Start your guitar journey by learning the essential chords used in countless songs. This beginner-friendly class covers proper hand positioning, chord transitions, strumming techniques, and basic song playing to help students build confidence and enjoy making music from day one.

Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People on ZOOM

In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do-using chords. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home and take this course with no pressure at all. And since this course includes an online book and online follow up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. The course is partly lecture/demonstration and partly hands on instruction.

In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you yearsof musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This crashcourse will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favoritesongs right away. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able tosit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And sincethe class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be ableto continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online questionand answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. Class limited to 15 students. For ages 13+.

Play Guitar with the Nashville Number System

Learn the basics of the Nashville Number System, a simple and effective method used by musicians to understand chord progressions and play songs in any key. Students will explore how the system works, practice reading number charts, and gain tools to communicate more easily with other musicians.
Five String Banjo for the Absolute Beginner

The five-string banjo is a blast to play! If you’ve got a yen for learning to play the five-string that has been sitting in a closet, your time has arrived!Even if you don’t have a banjo, your time is now! We can help you find one if you’re keen to learn to play this magical instrument. Our program is an introduction to the five-string banjo for absolute beginners (be aware 0 a four string banjo won’t do for this course). Together with instructor Duncan Perry, you’ll cover banjo setup, tuning, and care, then focus on learning the folk style playing popularized be Pete Seeger, and explore the clawhammer style used by country and old-time enthusiasts like Grandpa Jones, Riley Baugus, and Rhiannon Giddens. The goal is to set you on a path to developing your own style of banjo playing. If you don’t have access to a playable five-string banjo, we’ll put you in touch with Duncan who can advise about buying one. After all, every day should be a banjo day!
