Intro To Acting and Scene Study Workshop

$59

with Gregory Athans

Calendar Next available session starts Apr 2, 2025 at 6 pm
1 additional session on May 21, 2025

The course is designed for beginners who are interested in the art of acting, but may also be beneficial to participants who have never attempted acting or done plays. The process will be informative, enlightening and most importantly; fun.

In an environment that will embrace and cultivate the creative exploration of Theatre, we will concentrate on the application of developing a character using a wide array of techniques and means that will include cold readings, premising, character analysis and motivation, as well as imagination, emotion and affective memory; based on the teachings of Konstantin Stanislavski...co-founder of the Moscow Art Theatre.

Partners will be assigned a character in a scene. The scene will be rehearsed and workshopped applying the above mentioned processes, culminating in a performance at the following week's session, where the process will begin again with new partners and scenes. Additionally, it would be entertaining and fun to host a performance of select scenes at the end of the term where the students could showcase the results of their creative expression and personal growth for family and friends.
